Acie Guy Johnson, 81, of Maumelle, Arkansas (previously of Pine Bluff) passed away peacefully May 20, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on December 20, 1942 in Hermitage, Arkansas to the late Raymond and Opal Johnson.
After graduating from Hermitage High School in 1960, he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he earned an accounting degree in 1964. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Beverly Blackburn. They had two daughters and settled in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for forty-five years before moving to Maumelle, Arkansas.
Acie loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. His extended family always looked to him for advice and guidance, and he loved providing it.
Acie was an entrepreneur and acquired over thirty businesses during his lifetime. Most notably, Laser Aim, a company that was developing a laser sight for military use. Acie designed and patented the world’s first solid state of the art miniature laser sight with mounts to fit all types of weapons. In addition, the company went on to develop the world’s first miniature laser level. Acie served as a business consultant to over one hundred businesses. Acie owned Ortho Flex Saddles located in Warren, Arkansas, the largest manufacturer of custom-made saddles.
When he decided to retire, he sold all of the assets and equipment to a Tennessee company. He retained the 88,300 square foot building. He met with his old friend, John Frazer, and they agreed it should be given to the people of Bradley County.
He donated the building to the city of Warren so it would be used to recruit new business and jobs to the county. In his spare time, he loved to play golf and hunt. He was the first hunter in the province of Quebec, Canada to shoot a moose with a bow and arrow without a sight in 1980.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Beverly Blackburn Johnson; his daughters, Jennifer Johnson, Stephanie Stewart (Todd) of Little Rock; Granddaughter, Sophie Grace Howell, of Little Rock; brother, James Donald Johnson of Monroe, La.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospice and Hospice Home Care for the excellent and loving care he received.
There will be a memorial service held at Frazer Funeral Home in Warren, Ark. on June 7 at 11 a.m. with visitation following. The family request memorials to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the charity of your choice.
