Sanders retires after 36 years

Commercial Bank, formerly First State Bank, hosted a retirement party for Ruby Sanders at their Hermitage Branch on Thursday, May 29. Friends and family filled the small lobby in celebration. Refreshments including cake, fruit, and other finger foods were served. When asked if she was looking forward to retirement, Sanders smiled.

“I’m going to go home and take care of stuff that we’ve been needing to take care of,” Sanders said with a laugh.

Sanders has been a familiar and friendly face in the lobby of the Hermitage branch and never fails to brighten someone’s day. She has been familiar with customers and never failed to ask how someone’s day was going.

“I’ve been in every corner of the bank,” she said, referring to the different positions one can hold. “I’ve been through a lot of changes and seen a lot of things, but it’s been amazing.”

Commercial presented Sanders with a personalized bench that she will be able to take home and use.

Customers aren’t the only that are going to miss Sanders.

“I’m a little sad,” Shelia McVay who has worked with Sanders for 20 years said.

Congratulations to Ruby Sanders as she starts her new chapter.
